Who are you and where do you dip?
Sally , Eastbourne beach sea swims.
Your favourite time of day/season/weather for swimming?
Early morning all seasons.
How cold does the water get where you swim and how does it make you feel?
6 degrees. Alive and invigorated. No arthritis pain in feet or hands.
How long have you been wild swimming?
18 months.
How did you start, what got you to try it?
Reading about the benefits and meeting a lady through my daughter's work who invited me to join her sea swimming group.
What were you worried about before you started dipping?
Nothing as I wanted to try it due to hearing about the many benefits to physical and mental wellbeing.
Do you remember anything from those early dips?
Yes, getting good advice from experienced swimmers and what and where to get sensible starter kit.
What's your swim routine now?
To go to my local beach as much as possible but being aware of the local tides, currents and being aware of the power of the waves.
What kit do you take to each swim?
Good size bag, 3mm gloves, 3mm side zip boots, towel, hot water bottle, flask of hot tea, dry robe, hat, scarf, gloves to warm up quickly. Thermal vest.
Worst moment or most embarrassing dip?
Being rolled un suspecting by waves as a novice sea swimmer. Always respect the sea.
What about your best moment, what keeps you going back?
The beauty of a sunrise , friendships made,starting the day feeling I've achieved something rather amazing.
Any tips for a complete beginner?
Listen and take advice from experienced swimmers. Enjoy, whatever your abilities are, even if it's just bobbing about chatting. Have fun and keep warm afterwards.
